Home Info: How We Work

The Referral Process

If you are interested in setting up an appointment, please give us a call. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding our services at that time. If your pet was referred by a veterinarian, they can submit their referral by mail, fax, or email. Referral forms are available onlineAdobe PDF or we can send your veterinarian referral forms by mail or by fax. A referral is not required to set up an appointment. However, any information that you veterinarian can provide on the case, is always appreciated. If you do not have a primary veterinarian, you are still welcome to set up appointment.

Guardians of healthy animals less than 6 years of age who are interested in massage therapy or Reiki for their pets do not need an exam prior to their treatment. However, all animals with medical problems seeking massage or Reiki, would require an exam prior to a treatment to ensure that your pet receives the best possible therapy and to ensure your pet remains comfortable during his/her session.

Initial Evaluations

What to Bring to Your Initial Evaluation

  • Your pet's x-rays
  • Your pet's medications, supplements, and herbs along with dosages
  • Your pet's diet including name of food, list of ingredients, and quantity of food being fed (in cups)

Holistic Medicine Evaluations are for animals with acute and chronic diseases, terminal illnesses, and conditions not responding to traditional medicine.

  • During the evaluation, Dr. Danoff will take a thorough history, review your pet's medical records and x-rays, and perform a physical examination.
  • Initial Holistic Medicine Evaluations last approximately 45 minutes.

Rehabilitation Evaluations are for animals with orthopedic or neurologic conditions, pain, obesity, or poor conditioning.

  • During the evaluation, Dr. Danoff will take a thorough medical history, review your pet's medical records and x-rays, perform a physical exam and neuromuscular exam, gait analysis, goniometry (measuring joint angles to assess your pet's flexibility), and measure limb circumference (to assess muscle mass/atrophy).
  • Initial Rehabilitation Evaluations last anywhere from 30-90 minutes.

Following each evaluation, a treatment plan is designed specifically for your pet's needs. Our discussion is summarized and detailed instructions are written down for you to take home. Our exam findings and recommendations are entered into our computer and a copy of your pet's chart is sent to your primary veterinarian and specialists. We continue to update your veterinarians with your pet's progress. Recheck appointments will be scheduled based upon the nature of your pet's condition.
